Businesses depend on clean water. California’s coast, ocean, bays, rivers, and creeks generate millions of tourism dollars each year. Water is a key ingredient in California’s technology sector and the state’s world-renowned food, beer, and wine industries. Sufficient flows in California's streams and rivers are essential for fish, wildlife, public health, jobs and recreation such as kayaking, canoeing, rafting, stand-up paddling, and floating, and ultimately, for recreational and outdoor apparel industries. Industries depend on clean water to manufacture their products and sustain the livelihood of their workforce and their families. Economic and social benefits from clean and plentiful waters and a healthy coast should be recognized and accounted for in decisions that impact our state.

Because of this, I pledge to support initiatives that strengthen the economy by making our state’s coast and waters clean and safe to enjoy and that protect our scarce water resources.
